Archaeological evidence proofs that area of Krabi was populated 25-35 thousand years ago. The first record about the city was in the 13^th century. It was a vassal kingdom of Sukhothai and then of Ayutthaya. In 1872 Rama V awarded Krabi with the status of a town, and in 1875 – it got the status of the town of the fourth level.
